Thrive in a diverse community full of warm, genuine connections always ready to lend a hand, where everyone is invited to leave their unique impact on the neighborhood. (Drone footage of McCormick Park courtesy of Zach Vessels/TopSphere Media and Shout-Out: Fort Wayne)
Our unique bus shelter is nearly completed after three years of planning. We didn't let that stop us from celebrating with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Mayor Tucker and Margaret Machlan, President of the neighborhood association, cut the ribbon. Our sixth district Councilwoman Rohli Booker, and the Southeast Area Partnership President Denita Washingon joined in, with Dan Baisden (not pictured). As the Department of Neighborhoods Director, Dan and his team were instrumental in coordinating the resources for the bus shelter.
The historic McCormick Park was donated by the family of Cyrus McCormick. He was one of the founders of International Harvester. We are pleased that Fort Wayne is investing in our parks! The METRO OMEGA COLTS FOOTBALL TEAM requested a drinking fountain for the shelter -- so, it will be added at the picnic shelter. We hope to see these additions in the next few months.
We were awarded one of the 2025 Neighborhood Improvement Grants and the drinking fountain will be included in the benefits.
Our community beams with genuine interactions, the value of lending a hand when needed, or simply the joy of sharing a cup of sugar.
Our community beams with genuine interactions, the value of lending a hand when needed, or simply the joy of supporting the future generations. Martinez Bouncy House Rentals was one of our neighborhood business sponsors in 2024.
Get to know the history of our community, its innovation in the past and for the future. Fort Wayne leaders established the neighborhood as part of the efforts to bring International Harvester to our city. IH started production in 1923, and continued for 60 years. The PBS documentary highlights the history in "Truck Town," released this year. The Public Arts Council's program "Shout Out" is also developing a documentary of our neighborhood -- posting soon!
Your neighborhood doesn’t have to solely be the place where your home is located and nothing more. Come, be a part of Harvester, make your unique impact on the community, and be part of something connected and special.
